DALLAS Announced today, la Madeleine is supporting MakeAWay’s initial participation in North Texas Giving Day, an annual Communities Foundation of Texas fundraising event that began five years ago.
MakeAWay, the locally based nonprofit, provides hard working families experiencing financial hardships with assistance to prevent short-term financial emergencies from becoming catastrophes. In the last 20 months, the charity has helped more than 1,000 North Texas families with critical housing needs. In 2013, MakeAWay has seen a 63% increase in temporary assistance requests. The nonprofit aims to make support available to even more of these families through its participation in North Texas Giving Day on September 19th. Employees from la Madeleine’s corporate headquarters are gearing up to back MakeAWay and donate funds during the North Texas Giving Day.
As a neighborhood ally throughout the region, we understand the role we play in North Texas. Supporting MakeAWay reflects a pledge that we’ve made to give back to communities where we live and work, said John Cahill, chief operating officer at la Madeleine. I commend MakeAWay for inspiring our employees to make a meaningful difference for the organization. We are coming together to donate money to support families who need it most in our own backyard.
la Madeleine has supported MakeAWay since 2011, and has participated in several fundraising events, raising more than $40,000 for the organization. Its commitment to MakeAWay continues to grow.
We’re looking forward to our inaugural participation in the North Texas Giving Day, and are so thankful to the Communities Foundation of Texas for continuing and growing the fundraising event. The funds donated on our behalf will help hardworking North Texas families who need a hand during tough times. Madeleine has been and continues to be a great supporter of MakeAWay. We are thankful that the company has chosen to rally around MakeAWay on North Texas Giving Day. With its support and enthusiasm we can better reach our funding goals, said Jay Hellwig, executive director of MakeAWay.
la Madeleine is spreading the word and encouraging employees, family and friends to contribute $25 or more between 7 a.m. and midnight next Thursday. Donations to MakeAWay, and the thousands of additional nonprofits participating in North Texas Giving Day, will be made online at www.DonorBridgeTX.org. Donors can also make pledges in-person at Communities Foundation of Texas, which is located in Dallas at 5500 Caruth Haven Lane, at the intersection of I-75.
